the Mediterranean Diet… in Winter?!

It doesn’t mean cold food on cold days.

It doesn’t mean your only snack options are olives and tomatoes.

It doesn’t mean feta salad everyday.

Mediterranean Diet Winter edition

When I speak with women about following the Mediterranean style diet, the common response I hear is “Yes, I enjoy that in the summer but I don’t just want to eat salad in the winter”.
I bet you don’t.

I wouldn’t either. It is far too cold for that.

So then we talk about how the Mediterranean diet doesn’t have to be justfeta salads and fruit snacks. We talk about adding more pulses and beans to everyday cooking, about adding more vegetables to winter warmer dishes, about nourishing snacks and about balance.

Why not try some of these simple swaps:

  • serve curry with dahl

  • opt for wholemeal bread for toasties

  • add berries or stewed fruit to your porridge

  • add beans to your stew

  • add puy lentils to your bolognaise

  • opt for chicken & leek pie over steak & ale

It doesn’t have to be complicated. It just has to suit you.
